18-year-old dies following two-vehicle crash in Sioux County, IA

UPDATE

ALTON, Iowa (KTIV) - Authorities in Sioux County, Iowa have identified the driver killed in a two-vehicle crash Thursday afternoon near Alton, Iowa.

According to the Sioux County Sheriff's Office, 18-year-old Josiah Gonzalez of Granville, Iowa was driving westbound on Highway 10 when he lost control of his car, entered the eastbound lane and struck another vehicle.

The other vehicle was a truck being driven by 45-year-old Barry Galles of Remsen, Iowa.

The sheriff's office says both were transported to the Orange City Area Health System, where Gonzalez was pronounced dead as a result of his injuries. Galles was treated for minor injuries and released.

The accident remains under investigation.

ALTON, Iowa (KTIV) - Authorities in Sioux County, Iowa are reporting one person has died after a vehicle accident Thursday afternoon.

According to the Sioux County Sheriff's Office, at about 4:51 p.m. a motor vehicle accident occurred on Highway 10, three miles east of Alton.

The sheriff's office says two vehicles were involved in the accident and one of the drivers died as a result of their injuries. No additional information is being released on the drivers at this time.

The accident remains under investigation.
