LINCOLN, Neb. (KTIV) - A state senator from the Nebraska Unicameral has brought a bill to the floor that proposes giving a tax credit to women that give birth to stillborn babies.

Sen. Joni Albrecht is proposing that a $2,000 dollar credit be given to women affected. The credit would cover stillborn babies born after 20 weeks.

Albrecht said that the bill is not just about money, but a way to provide relief to those families in need.

"It just seems like it’s something that would be meaningful to the parents. And be able to cover some of the expenses that they do incur whether it’s medical bills, a burial expense, grief counseling, anything that they might have to go through at that time" said Albrecht.

Albrecht also said that this bill is just another small thing to do for families of the unborn when they are going through those tough times.
