WAYNE, Neb. (KTIV) - Social security numbers of some alumni of Wayne State College may have been compromised.
In July, the Wayne State Foundation learned that its data management provider had its systems breached. The foundation has sent out notification letters to alumni to let them know about the breach.
"As a result of the breach, the foundation no longer has sensitive data on our files so we're confident moving forward that this kind of thing won't happen again with our information, because we don't have any sensitive data to share" said Kevin Armstrong, CEO of the Wayne State Foundation.
Armstrong also said the foundation has offered a year's worth of credit protection to the alumni affected, as well as some steps alumni can take to protect their identity if something were to happen because of the breach.
