Sioux City man pleads Not Guilty in fatal New Year’s Day shooting

SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - One of the three men arrested in a fatal New Year's Day shooting in Sioux City is pleading not guilty to charges.

According to Woodbury County Court documents, 19-year-old Christopher Morales pleaded not guilty to five counts, including first-degree murder, in the death of 18-year-old Mia Kritis.

He is being held in the Woodbury County Jail on a $1,020,000 bond. His arraignment was scheduled for January 27.

Meanwhile, the other two men arrested in the case - 18-year-old Carlos Morales and 18-year-old Anthony Bauer - are also being charged with first-degree murder.

Carlos Morales - the brother of Christopher Morales - and Bauer are currently being held on $500,000 bonds in the Woodbury County Jail. Carlos Morales's arraignment is set for February 2 while Bauer's arraignment is set for February 3.

The fatal shooting happened January 1 in the 2600 block of Walker Street in Sioux City, where several individuals opened fire on a residence with 9mm handguns and an assault-style rifle.

Kritis died due to injuries received during the incident, while three other people were struck by gunfire and are recovering.

Christopher Morales was arrested on January 3 while Carlos Morales and Bauer were taken into custody on January 13 after police located them in a car on the 3100 block of Floyd Boulevard.
