CARROLL, Iowa (KTIV) -- A blast rocked Carroll County after an explosion at a convenience store and oil company. Miraculously, no deaths or injuries were reported.
Investigators were at the scene Wednesday looking into what caused the blast at Al's Corner Oil Company near Breda, Iowa.
The explosion happened around 9:40 p.m. Tuesday night. Firefighters at the scene said a fire ignited several propane tanks stored at the business, which caused the explosion.
The blast could be seen from miles around. One resident said "it sounded like jet engines taking off. The ground was shaking."
Breda is located in Carroll County, about 9 miles northwest of the city of Carroll. The explosion happened west of Breda at the intersections of Highways 71 and 217.
Al's Corner is the home office for 26 "Sparky's One-Stop" convenience stores in west-central Iowa and provides farm fuel and propane delivery for commercial and residential customers.
