Feb. 22: More than 145,000 second vaccine doses administered in Iowa


(KTIV) - A total of 585,961 vaccine doses have been administered to Iowa residents. Of those administered doses, 339,807 were Moderna and 246,154 were Pfizer.

According to the state's COVID-19 dashboard, 146,050 people have gotten their second vaccine dose, thus completing their vaccine series.

As vaccinations continue across the state, total COVID-19 hospitalizations have dropped to 222, a decrease of seven since Feb. 21.

There were 189 new, confirmed cases from 10 a.m. Sunday to 10 a.m. Monday, according to the state’s dashboard, bringing the state’s total number of cases to 332,762.

The state’s website says that of the 332,762 people who have tested positive, 309,569 have recovered. This is 404 more recoveries than what the state reported Saturday.

The state’s death toll is 5,374, which is 38 more than reported yesterday.

Subtracting the number of recoveries (309,569) and the number of deaths (5,374) from the total number of cases (332,762) shows there are currently 17,819 active positive cases in the state.

In Iowa, there were 1,136 new tests given in the last 24 hours, and a total of 1,539,605 people have been tested for COVID-19.
