SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - The annual Heelan Crusader Classic Show Choir Invitational will be held this weekend, but there will be some changes to the typical format, to accommodate for safety with COVID-19.

The event will be held Saturday, Feb. 27, at Heelan's O'Gorman Fieldhouse from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

The event usually attracts more than 2,000 people, but will be altered from its typical performance-based format to a clinic-based format.

Each participating group will be designated an hour to practice and then perform for judges. The new format is to help accommodate for safety and crowd reduction.

"These kids have already had so much taken away from them that we felt it was important to give them an opportunity to perform in a space other than in their own school,"said Gage Fenton, Vocal Music Director for Bishop Heelan.

Along with Heelan, other Siouxland Schools registered to participate are Hinton, Sergeant Bluff, Rock Valley, Sioux Center, and Spirit Lake.

Each performer is allowed up to four guests.
