PIERRE, S.D. (KTIV) - Authorities have released interviews conducted with South Dakota Attorney General Jason Ravnsborg following a fatal vehicle versus pedestrian crash on Sept. 12.
The two videos were released by the South Dakota Department of Public Safety at the direction of Gov. Kristi Noem.
The crash, which occurred just west of Highmore, South Dakota, resulted in the death of Joseph Boever. Authorities say the attorney general's vehicle struck Boever as he was walking on the shoulder of a roadway late at night.
Due to the nature of the crash, Gov. Noem requested the Department of Public Safety lead the investigation. The North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation, the Ramsey County Coroner’s Office in Minnesota and a private crash reconstruction expert from Wyoming also participated in the investigation.
Both of the interviews were conducted by special agents of the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation.
Portions of the audio and video have been redacted because authorities say Ravnsborg referenced confidential information that is not relevant to the crash investigation.
