IOWA CITY, Iowa (KWWL) - Iowa City police have arrested a man in connection to the shooting death of a 19-year-old.
Police say 22-year-old Sammy Hamed of Iowa City is charged with first-degree murder in connection to Quincy Russom's death. Hamed was charged Monday for the death of the Iowa City teen.
Russom was found shot to death after officers responded to a call that someone had been killed during a robbery at a local apartment. A witness told police three men entered the apartment, shot Russom and ran off.
A police complaint says when Hamed was stopped several hours later, he had Russom's cellphone and other possessions, as well as a gun police said was used in the shooting.
Russom's death marks the first murder in Iowa City in 2021. The case is still under investigation.
