Feb. 24: South Dakota reports 1,900 more people have received 2nd dose of COVID-19 vaccine

(KTIV) - South Dakota health officials are reporting 1,900 more people have completed their vaccine series, with a total of 64,778 people in the state now fully vaccinated.

This means an estimated 10.91% of South Dakota's 16 and older population has been fully vaccinated. The state's COVID-19 dashboard shows about 21.97% of that age group has received at least one dose.

So far, South Dakota has administered 191,874 vaccines, with 99,895 being Moderna and 91,979 being Pfizer.

On Feb. 24, health officials reported 263 more COVID-19 cases in South Dakota, 183 of them were confirmed. Currently, 1,938 active virus cases are in the state, a decrease of 47 since yesterday.

Out of the 111,808 cases reported in South Dakota, 108,053 have recovered. A total of 102 patients are hospitalized due to the virus.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 1,864 virus-related deaths have been reported in South Dakota.
