March 1: Iowa reports 178,875 people have received 2nd dose of COVID-19 vaccine


(KTIV) - Iowa health officials are reporting 47,371 more vaccine doses have been administered to Iowa residents. This means a reported 679,016 Iowans have received a dose of the vaccine.

So far, the state's COVID-19 vaccination dashboard shows 178,875 people have received their second dose, completing their vaccine series.

As vaccinations continue across the state, total COVID-19 hospitalizations have risen to 197, an increase of one since yesterday.

Data from the Iowa Department of Public Health shows there were 196 new, confirmed cases from 10 a.m. Sunday to 10 a.m. Monday, meaning 336,507 individuals have tested positive for COVID-19.

The state's website says of the people who have tested positive, 315,444 have recovered. This is 310 more recoveries than what the state reported yesterday.

The state has reported one additional death connected to COVID-19, bringing Iowa's death toll to 5,472.

Subtracting the number of recoveries (315,444) and the number of deaths (5,472) from the total number of cases (336,507) shows there are currently 15,591 active positive cases in the state.

In Iowa, the results for 1,282 more individuals were reported, and a total of 1,559,192 individuals have been tested for COVID-19.
