March 1: South Dakota reports over 223,000 COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered

(KTIV) - South Dakota health officials are reporting 888 more people have completed their vaccine series, with a total of 77,534 people in the state now fully vaccinated.

This means an estimated 13.33% of South Dakota's 16 and older population has been fully vaccinated. The state's COVID-19 dashboard shows about 25.63% of that age group has received at least one dose.

So far, South Dakota has administered 223,798 vaccines, with 113,541 being Moderna and 110,257 being Pfizer.

On March 1, health officials reported 43 more COVID-19 cases in South Dakota, 37 of them were confirmed. Currently, 1,918 active virus cases are in the state, a decrease of 15 since yesterday.

Out of the 112,470 cases reported in South Dakota, 108,664 have recovered while 92 patients are hospitalized due to the virus.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 1,888 virus-related deaths have been reported in South Dakota. No additional COVID-19 deaths were reported on Monday.
