Mar. 6: South Dakota reports over 31% of 16 and older population has first dose of vaccine

(KTIV) - South Dakota health officials are reporting 226 more residents have completed their vaccine series, with a total of 86,788 people in the state now fully vaccinated.

This means an estimated 20.46% of South Dakota's 16 and older population has been fully vaccinated. The state's COVID-19 dashboard shows 31.45% of the state's adult population has received at least one dose of the vaccine.

So far, South Dakota has administered 255,025 vaccines, with 127,027 being Moderna, 127,810 being Pfizer and 188 being Johnson & Johnson.

On March 6, health officials reported 149 more COVID-19 cases in South Dakota, 120 of which were confirmed. Currently, 2,109 active virus cases are in the state, an increase of 13 since yesterday.

Out of the 113,378 cases reported in South Dakota, 109,371 have recovered while 74 patients are hospitalized due to the virus.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, 1,898 virus-related deaths have been reported in South Dakota. Two additional COVID-19 deaths were reported on Saturday.
