SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - Drilling Pharmacy in Sioux City is teaming up with the local library for an upcoming vaccination clinic.
After receiving over 1,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine, Drilling Pharmacy decided they needed a bigger location to vaccinate people at. So, they reached out to their neighbors across the street at the Sioux City Public Library.
As vaccine eligibility continues to open up, Liz Webb, a staff pharmacist at Drilling Pharmacy, said appointments go quickly.
For the next appointments, Drilling Pharmacy will vaccinate those signed up at the Morningside branch of the Sioux City Public Library. Webb said they're appreciative the Public Library was willing to work with them.
"We're so excited and thankful. Especially with the proximity to the pharmacy. Just the ability to be able to do more people and have the space to do it because that was our concern," said Webb.
Library Director Helen Rigdon said there was no hesitation when Drilling Pharmacy reached out.
"It was an easy design to make. We want to help promote as many people to get vaccinated as possible," said Rigdon.
Webb said the vaccination clinic will be similar to the one that happened inside the pharmacy.
"They come in, they get checked in and typically there's already an immunizer that's ready to grab the patient, take them back, they get their shot. We give them a timer and they sit for 15 minutes to be observed. And then they checkout with their second appointment," said Webb.
Leaders with both Drilling Pharmacy and the Sioux City Public Library said they hope to continue the partnership as they continue to receive allocations of the vaccine.
