ELDORA, Iowa (KTIV) - Iowa's ride, the east-west bike ride across the Hawkeye state is now a weekend event.

This would have been the event's first year, but COVID has forced organizers to change their plans.

The ride was originally envisioned as an alternative to RAGBRAI and would have featured eight overnight stops Starting in Dubuque and ending in Rock Rapids with stops in Emmetsburg and Sheldon along the way.

The new plan is for the ride to be centered around Eldora.

According to the event's website, the ride is now called "Iowa's Ride Weekender" and takes place from July 16 to July 18, 2021.

The event will have a designated 40 to 50-mile route on Saturday and several riding options available on Friday and Sunday.

If you were previously registered for the 2020 ride, there are no registration fees. If anyone would like to still register now, it is a free entry.
