April 7: Over 675,000 vaccine series completed in Iowa

(KTIV) - Iowa health officials are reporting 1,612,589 total COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered to state residents.

As of Wednesday morning, the COVID-19 vaccine dashboard is showing 675,229 people have been fully vaccinated against the virus.

State data shows 628,584 of those completed vaccine series were from the second dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine. While 46,645 people have completed their single-dose vaccination with the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.

The state's dashboard shows there were 759 new, confirmed cases from 10 a.m. Tuesday to 10 a.m. Wednesday, bringing the state's total number of cases to 354,660.

The state's website says of the people who have tested positive, 336,119 have recovered. This is 463 more recoveries than what the state reported yesterday.

Twelve additional virus-related deaths have been reported in Iowa, bringing its death toll to 5,835.

Subtracting the number of recoveries (336,119) and the number of deaths (5,835) from the total number of cases (354,660) shows there are currently 12,706 active positive cases in the state.

There are currently 216 virus-related hospitalizations in Iowa, which is down from the 217 reported yesterday. Of those hospitalizations, 44 are in the ICU and 24 are on ventilators.

In Iowa, there were 3,366 new test results reported in the last 24 hours, and a total of 1,655,036 people have been tested for COVID-19.
