ESTHERVILLE, Iowa (KTIV) - A 25-year-old man has died from injuries he received in a motorcycle accident Wednesday morning.

The Estherville Police Department says the accident occurred at about 6:15 p.m. at the intersection of South 8th Street and 2nd Avenue South in Estherville.

Police say Samuel Woolery was driving a motorcycle eastbound on 2nd Avenue South while a pickup truck driven by 35-year-old Angel Ponca Archaga of Estherville was traveling northbound on South 8th Street.

Police say the pickup collided with the motorcycle in the middle of the intersection. The intersection of South 8th Street and 2nd Avenue South is an uncontrolled intersection.

After the collision, Woolery was ejected from the motorcycle. Police say he was wearing a helmet.

Responding officers administered first aid to Woolery and he was sent to Avera Holy Family Hospital before being transferred to a Sioux Falls hospital, where he died as a result of injuries sustained in the collision.

Ponce Archaga was questioned by investigating officers and placed under arrest for driving without a valid license. He remains in the Emmet County Jail on that charge.

There were three other occupants in the pickup truck, none of them reported any injuries. The occupants were wearing safely belts and the front airbags of the truck were deployed.

The accident remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol and the Estherville Police Department.
