ESTHERVILLE, Iowa (KTIV) - An Estherville, Iowa man is behind bars after police say he fired multiple shots at his roommate.
The Estherville Police Department says officers were called to a residence on North 8th Street in Estherville on Wednesday.
Police say when responding officers got to the scene, they were met at the front door by a male. While directing that man into a position to be handcuffed, another male came from the residence.
Officers determined the first man they encountered was the person causing problems inside the house, while the second man was the victim.
The first man, 21-year-old Alejandro Reyes was taken into custody while the victim and another occupant were removed from the residence.
Reyes was allegedly involved in a dispute with one of his roommates. The victim reported that Reyes had become upset that day and began shooting inside and outside the residence.
Before officers arrived, Reyes allegedly pinned the victim against a wall and fired two rounds at him.
Officers also noticed a vehicle parked in the yard that had sustained a considerable damage. The victim reported that Reyes was responsible for the damage and that he had done it the morning of April 7.
After conducting a search, investigating officers say they found a .22 caliber rifle at the house, evidence that the gun had been fired within the house, drugs, drugs paraphernalia and a marijuana grow lab.
Reyes had been charged with attempted murder, intimidation with a dangerous weapon, criminal mischief, discharging a firearm within city limits, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Reyes was booked into the Emmet County Jail.
