April 18-19: South Dakota reports over 235,000 residents fully vaccinated against COVID-19

(KTIV) - South Dakota health officials are reporting on Monday 5,970 more residents have completed their COVID-19 vaccine series, with a total of 235,624 in the state now fully vaccinated.

This means an estimated 39.30% of South Dakota's 16 and older population is fully vaccinated against the virus.

The state's COIVID-19 dashboard shows 52.77% of the state's adult population has received at least one dose of the vaccine.

So far, South Dakota has administered 536,965 of its allocated vaccines, with 240,595 being Moderna, 280,074 being Pfizer and 16,296 being Johnson & Johnson.

Since their last report on April 17, health officials have reported 102 more confirmed COVID-19 cases. Currently, there are 2,153 active cases of the virus in the state, a decrease of 57 since Friday.

A total of 117,083 of South Dakota's 121,189 COVID-19 cases have recovered, while 112 patients remain hospitalized due to the virus.

So far, there have been 1,953 virus-related deaths in South Dakota.
