April 22: Iowa reports more than 911,000 people fully vaccinated


(KTIV) - Iowa health officials are reporting 15,464 more people have completed their vaccine series, meaning 911,336 individuals are fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

As of Thursday morning, the state's COVID-19 vaccine dashboard shows 2,031,572 total vaccine doses have been administered to Iowa residents.

Between 10 a.m. Wednesday and 10 a.m. Thursday, there were 497 new, confirmed COVID-19 cases in the state. So far, Iowa has reported 361,811 people have tested positive for the virus

Of those who have tested positive, 343,075 have recovered, an increase of 666 since yesterday.

Iowa's COVID-19 dashboard shows six additional virus-related deaths have been reported, bringing the state's death toll to 5,899.

Subtracting the number of recoveries (343,075) and the number of deaths (5,899) from the total number of cases (361,811) shows there are currently 12,837 active positive cases in the state.

The latest report from the Iowa Department of Public Health says there are 235 hospitalizations due to the virus, which is up from 219 reported Wednesday. Of those hospitalizations, 56 are in the ICU and 24 are on ventilators.

In Iowa, there were 2,863 test results reported in the last 24 hours, and a total of 1,692,173 people have been tested for COVID-19.
