SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - Morningside College students celebrated Earth Day, and honored their president, with a tree dedication.
The new tree sits just outside Lewis Hall on the Morningside Campus. The tree is an Autumn Maple Blaze and grows quickly, sprouting three feet a year.
Morningside President John Reynders said having the tree dedicated to him and his family means the world to him.
"I think that as we recognize Earth Day, these students saw the wisdom in recognizing Robin and our family with a tree speaks volumes on the kinds of kids we have at Morningside. That matters to them. I couldn't be any more proud of the kinds of young people that we have here at Morningside," said Reynders.
Students at Morningside added they hope people can find peace when they see the tree on campus.
