SIOUX CITY (KTIV) - The prosecution has rested its case in the murder trial of Paul Belk, the man charged with stabbing his mother to death, and stabbing and wounding his sister in Sioux City last year.
The final witness called by the prosecution, today, was Dr. Michele Catellier. She's a pathologist with the Iowa State Medical Examiner's Office.
Catellier testified she found 16 sharp force injuries on victim Lisa Belk's body during an autopsy. Catellier determined Belk's cause of death was homicide.
During Thursday's proceedings, the defense moved for an acquittal, which was denied by the judge.
The defense starts presenting its testimony Friday in Woodbury County Court.
